A Day of Surf, Sand, and Stunts: Recap of the 62nd Annual Coastal Edge ECSC

Virginia Beach was electric today as the 62nd Annual Coastal Edge ECSC unfolded, bringing together a vibrant mix of athletes, surf enthusiasts, and families for a dynamic day of action, music, and art on the beach. Let’s dive into the day’s highlights:

The day started strong with the Coastal Edge Shred For Bread Sk8 5k at 2nd Street. For the first time ever, skaters took to the iconic Virginia Beach Boardwalk for an intense race, setting the tone for an energy-packed day.

Over at the Virginia Beach Pro, the women took center stage, putting on a display of high-caliber surfing, while the men’s heats were called off due to chalenging conditions.

Festival-goers kept the stoke high at the Coastal Edge ECSC Merchandise Headquarters, grabbing the latest gear. Meanwhile, the Coastal Edge Vendor Village broght the fun with games and giveaways.

The PACIFICO Beer Tent became a favorite hangout, providing the perfect beachside spot to relax with a refreshing brew and take in the festival atmosphere.

One of the day’s standout moments was the Monster Energy BMX Stunt Team at 3rd Street. The riders delivered thrilling demos, showcasing incredible talent and offering fans the chance to meet the pros in person.

Art enthusiasts found their haven at the Coastal Edge Vans Custom Culture Art Exhibit at 2nd Street, where local high school students displayed their unique and creative designs. The Virginia Beach International Surf Museum also offered a deeper dive into the rich history and heritage of surfing in the region.

At midday, the Surfrider Foundation VA Chapter brought the community together for a beach cleanup, highlighting the importance of preserving the beautiful shores of Virginia Beach.

The Coastal Edge Skateboarding Clinic, led by John Fudala, gave aspiring skaters the chance to hone their skills on the mini half-pipe, followed by an open skate session that kept the energy flowing.

As the day transitioned into evening, the Pacifico Main Stage came alive with performances from Josh Hendricks, Skillinjah, Sons of Paradise, One Culture, and Ground Level, creating a perfect soundtrack to close out a phenomenal day.
